Keeping you Safe and Secure at centre:mk

Your Safety and Security

At centre:mk, keeping you safe and secure is our number one priority. We are committed to working closely with our partners, including Thames Valley Police (who maintain a permanent presence onsite) and Milton Keynes City Council, to ensure a welcoming environment for everyone.

Our Security Measures

We employ a wide range of security measures to protect our visitors. While some of these are highly visible, others operate discreetly behind the scenes. These include:

  • 24-Hour Live-Monitored CCTV: Our state-of-the-art control room is staffed around the clock.
  • ANPR & Vehicle Checks: Advanced technology to monitor vehicle safety.
  • Professional Patrols: Friendly, helpful security professionals patrolling both internal and external areas.
  • Counter-Terrorism Policing: Specialist tactics to ensure public safety.
  • Centre Safety Initiatives: Ongoing programs designed to enhance the visitor experience.

Note on Prohibited Items: To maintain a safe environment, possession of any type of weapon and controlled drugs/narcotics are strictly prohibited. Visitors wearing face coverings may be asked to remove them briefly for identification purposes should an incident occur.

Filming and Photography Policy

To ensure the privacy of our visitors and the security of our retail partners, we have specific guidelines regarding filming and photography:

  • Permission Required: Anyone wishing to film or take professional photography within the centre must obtain prior permission from the Marketing Department.
  • Unauthorised Activity: If you are found filming without prior permission, our security team will ask you to stop immediately. Continued unauthorised filming may result in being asked to leave the premises.
  • How to Apply: For media enquiries or to request filming permission, please contact marketing@thecentremk.com

Working with Thames Valley Police

You will frequently see Thames Valley Police officers throughout the centre. We participate in various high-visibility, unpredictable deployments designed to disrupt criminality and keep you safe.

These deployments often include officers specially trained to spot signs of criminal planning and occasionally involve police dogs or armed officers. Both police and our officers love to engage with the community, so please feel free to say hello and ask them about their day.

Key Security Operations:

  • Project Servator: Unpredictable deployments designed to disrupt a range of criminal activity, including terrorism.
  • Op Detect: Focuses on knife crime prevention, often utilising screening arches in partnership with local education providers.
  • Op Rover: High-visibility and plain-clothed patrols targeting retail crime in Central Milton Keynes.
  • City Centre Policing: Focused patrols to tackle ASB and aggressive begging to ensure a pleasant environment for all.
